After filing for divorce, Tullian Tchividjian finds new job in another church in Florida
After filing for divorce from his wife Kim, Billy Graham's grandson Tullian Tchividjian has found a new job as the director of ministry development at Willow Creek Church in Winter Springs, Florida, which is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church.
"We're so delighted to welcome Tullian Tchividjian to the staff of Willow Creek Church," the church's website reads. "A graduate of Columbia International University (philosophy) and Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando (M.Div.), Tullian is a best-selling author, having written seven books on the gospel of Jesus Christ and its liberating implications."
Tchividjian resigned from his position as senior pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after admitting to having engaged in an adulterous affair.
"As many of you know, I returned from a trip a few months back and discovered that my wife was having an affair. Heartbroken and devastated, I informed our church leadership and requested a sabbatical to focus exclusively on my marriage and family. As her affair continued, we separated. Sadly and embarrassingly, I subsequently sought comfort in a friend and developed an inappropriate relationship myself," he said in a statement given to the Washington Post.
But even after he resigned, the South Florida Presbytery remained committed to helping Tchividjian get back on his feet as he sought counselling from fellow church leader and friend Dr. Trip Lee.
"Our goal in doing this is to both protect the integrity of the Church from which his credentials were given while, at the same time, wrapping Tullian in the grace offered by Jesus Christ to all those who confess sin, pursue repentance and desire restoration," the Presbytery statement reads, according to Charisma News.
Just recently, Tchividjian filed for divorce at Broward County, Florida. He and Kim, who have been married since 1994, have three children together.
