Amid the cancellation of Marvel's Agent Carter, it seems that there are reports that Marvel is willing to continue the adventures of Hayley Atwell in the titular role but first, they would need to find a network to air the series.

Two months ago, ABC cancelled the show even despite pulling in decent viewership numbers because it wasn't living up to expectations in terms of what the network wanted from a superhero show.

Marvel TV boss Joseph Loeb, in an interview with TVLine, explained that while they are in favor of getting another season greenlighted, the system for Marvel's cinematic division is different from its television counterpart.

"What Marvel Television does every day is it connects with our partners — ABC, FX, Fox, Netflix, Freeform — and they tell us when they would like it. So the short answer is: Sure, if someone wants to call and say, 'We want a two-hour Agent Carter for May 2017,' boom. We'll put together the greatest Agent Carter movie we can," Loeb explained.

It can be recalled that hardcore fans of the show even started a petition for Netflix to pick up the show. The petition garnered over 100,000 signatures but unfortunately, the streaming site has its own superhero franchises from Marvel to focus on.

Netflix is currently airing Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and has Luke Cage for a September release. It's also in the process of developing an Iron Fist and Defenders series.

"We're looking for truly original brands to own. "And in that Marvel space we already have [original comic book shows] – so that was mostly why," Netflix boss Ted Sarandos, for his part told Entertainment Weekly.

The cast, for their part have expressed willingness to come back and reprise their roles, if only to continue to tell the story of how Peggy started S.H.I.E.L.D.
