Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team may be facing an even bigger threat when the hit ABC series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns after its midseason break.

According to CarterMatt, there is a possibility, albeit very slim, that Doctor Victor Von Doom, the iconic villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be introduced in the series. Doom is known as the major antagonist of the "Fantastic Four" and also a big thorn in the Avengers' side. In as much as the rights to the character are currently reserved with FOX, the website posits that it is possible that it may be returned to Marvel after the terrible results of the "Fantastic Four" reboot.

The incident has been known to happen, just like when Sony agreed to return Spider-Man. In the event that FOX follows suit, Doom will be in good company, especially once he is added to the lineup of villains for S.H.I.E.L.D. The genius professor has been known to tangle with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Nick Fury in the comics, so it will not be too hard to make it work for ABC. The series' format can handle the character's inclusion, as it can explore Doom in several storylines.

CarterMatt notes that focusing on his backstory will work, especially the time he considered Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four, as a rival in school. Marvel.com reports that the pair attended New York's Empire State University. Doom got in, thanks to a scholarship granted due to his scientific genius. He saw Reed as competition, perhaps due to their superior intellect. For his part, Reed wanted to befriend Doom, but his offer was spurned.

Doom's first invention was a machine designed to ring back his mother's soul. Reed warned him of a flaw in his calculations, but he was too proud to listen. The whole thing exploded in his face, rendering him scarred for life. He then went to exclusion and traveled to Tibet, where he met the Immortal Nine. They forged him his first armor, including his iconic mask.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 will return on March 8 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
