Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) are expected to return in "Agents of SHIELD" season 4 now that the spinoff "Marvel's Most Wanted" planned for them was axed.

There's no way to know for sure if they will return and executive producer Jed Whedon would not want to give some clues about their plans for the characters.

"It's definitely classified," the screenwriter and musician said during the "Agents of SHIELD" season 4 panel at the San Diego Comic Con or SDCC. "But keep watching," he teased.

While fans hope of that the duo will be back in action for "Agents of SHIELD" season 4, Palicki's new gig might prevent that from happening.

The actress has snagged the female lead in Seth MacFarlane's new and still untitled science-fiction dramedy series on FOX. She will play the role of Kelly Grayson, the First Officer on the spaceship Orville.

Her former husband Ed, who will be played by MacFarlane as well, happens to be the captain of the spaceship making for a rather awkward and entertaining journey.

Comic Book Resources believes that Palicki's involvement in the FOX series will prevent her from returning full-time or even part-time for "Agents of SHIELD" season 4.

But if Whedon's cryptic tease is any indication, fans could still hold out hope that Palicki might reprise her role as Bobbi. Whether it will be a guest stint or a longer screen time, it is too early to learn for now.

When "Marvel's Most Wanted" was cancelled, Palicki took to Twitter how upset she was the spinoff will not push through.

As for Blood reprising his role as Hunter in "Agents of SHIELD" season 4, there has been no news and information about this as well. It is unknown if could be part of the series despite Bobbi possibly not returning.

Despite Bobbi and Hunter's return still up in the air, fans can look forward to a lot of new characters, most notably Ghost Rider, who will be out for vengeance next season.

"Agents of SHIELD" season 4 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 on ABC.
