Apprentice boss Sir Alan Sugar is Britain's top choice in a survey commissioned by charity Christian Aid to find which celebrity the British public would most like on their quiz team. The multi-millionaire entrepreneur ranks highest overall, with JK Rowling the top choice for women.

Gordon Brown comes seven percentage points ahead of David Cameron. Cameron's attempts to be 'down with the kids' may be thwarted as 25 per cent of the 15-34 age group side with the Prime Minister and only 16 per cent back the Leader of the Opposition.

The Ipsos MORI survey was timed to coincide with the launch of QUIZAID - a fundraising event which will see thousands of people across Britain hosting quizzes during Christian Aid Week (11-17 May) to raise money for the world's poorest people.

Amongst women voters, JK Rowling is the most popular team member, with Sir Alan a close second and Lily Allen least popular of the ten listed. Sir Alan is wanted by the highest proportion of men, with Sir Terry Wogan the next most popular and JK Rowling third. Least popular again is Lily Allen.

However, among the 15-24 age group, Lily is the second most popular team member (34 per cent) after Chris Moyles, this age group's top choice.

In the battle of the airwaves, Radio 2's Sir Terry Wogan is 11 percentage points higher than his Radio 1 rival Chris Moyles. However, Chris fares better with the 15-24 age group, with almost half of them (46 per cent) wanting him on their team.

The survey found that only 18 per cent of British people would want The Queen in their team, falling to just eight percent in Scotland. However, Her Majesty fares best in Wales when 24 per cent would pick her for their team.
