When Microsoft launched the new Windows 10 platform and started rolling it out over a month ago, many fans quickly made the upgrade and switched over to the operating system. However, the new platform is only initially available for desktop workstations and tablets, which prompted many fans to ask when the new operating system will make it to smartphones.

For those who are fans of Windows 10, a bit of good news surfaced recently. According to reports, Alcatel – known for its OneTouch flagship line of products – will be releasing a Windows 10 smartphone before the year ends.

The information started off as a rumor by noted tipster Evan Blass. Previously, Blass posted a tweet, allegedly of a device to be known as Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL for Windows. In Blass' tweet, aside from having a Windows 10 Mobile platform, the rumored Fierce Xl will reportedly be coming with a Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM, 5.5-inch 720p display, 16 GB storage expandable via microSD support, and 8 MP/ 2 MP main and front camera combination. In addition, the new Alcatel OneTouch will also be equipped with LTE, VoLTE, and HDV features. Blass added that the phone will come out in December.

Although Alcatel did not say if the rumored specs are indeed true, or if a new Alcatel OneTouch will be called as the Fierce XL, the company did confirm that it is supportive of the new Windows 10 platform. In an interview with CNET at the CTIA wireless trade show, Steve Cistulli, Alcatel OneTouch's senior vice president for North America, said, "We are very supportive of the Windows ecosystem."

If Alcatel will indeed release a new Windows 10 smartphone before the end of the year, fans of the new platform will be seeing at least two new smartphone brands running Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft itself is rumored to be developing at least two new Lumia phones running its proprietary platform, with a reported late 2015 release.
