A new trailer has been released for the upcoming movie "Tomb Raider," and it revolves around the life of protagonist Lara Croft, played by Swedish Oscar winner Alicia Vikander.

The new trailer shows Lara, following his dead father's last request, embarking on a journey to the island off the coast of Japan, where his father had been in search of an enigmatic tomb called the Mother of Death. Upon arriving in the island, she will be met with the organization named "Trinity," who, according to her father, must be stopped before they succeed in their aim to start a global genocide.

Lara will be challenged physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Since the movie is primarily inspired by the 2013 Tomb Raider video game, the new trailer also showcases more of the heart-stopping action and perilous adventure fans have been waiting for. Lara will be fighting for her life in death-defying stunts and challenges. Not only will she be facing physical problems, she will also be required to use her mental prowess to solve puzzles.

An array of mysterious trinkets to be solved also seem to be of vital importance to the storyline, exciting fans of the video game further. Additionally, Lara's motivation for becoming the "Tomb Raider — her love for her father — will be given importance. According to CinemaBlend, Lara's relationship with her father was highlighted in the new trailer, showing how his disappearance and, consequently, his mysterious death, pushed her to set out on an adventure that will eventually change the course of her life.

Vikander will be succeeding Angelina Jolie who starred as Lara Croft in "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" in 2001 and its sequel "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life" in 2003. She will be starring alongside "Money Monster" actor Dominic West and "AMC's Into the Badlands" actor Daniel Wu. Portraying as her nemesis is "The Hateful Eight" and "Django Unchained's" actor Walton Goggins.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, the upcoming movie will be directed by 2015 film "The Wave" Norwegian director Roar Uthaug. It will be produced by Oscar-winner producer Graham King.

"Tomb Raider" is set to be released on March 16.
