With news of a new "Alien" movie in the works, fans were left to wonder who could possibly star in such a big project, and the answer, as it turns out, is the same person who did so before.

Sigourney Weaver will indeed be returning to "Alien 5" to reprise her role as Ellen Ripley. Such is most likely welcome news for fans who worried that they might see someone unfit for the role possibly being cast. 

Even though Weaver is coming back for the upcoming movie, it is still unknown what the newest installment of the franchise will have for her.

In addition to Weaver, another familiar face in actor Michael Biehn is also apparently reprising his role for the "Alien" franchise. Biehn, who portrayed Corporal Dwayne Hicks in the franchise, has not been officially confirmed to be part of the new film, although his likeness has appeared in concept art shared by the upcoming movie's director Neill Blomkamp, according to Geek Snack.

Details regarding the rest of the "Alien 5" cast have yet to be fleshed out, so the movie could still head in a variety of directions moving forward, especially with details of the plot for the upcoming installment being kept under wraps.

Fans may also be forced to wait awhile for the new "Alien" movie as there are rumblings that production on the film may be getting delayed, according to Coming Soon.

The reason for the said delay is rumored to be producer Ridley Scott's desire to finish his work on "Prometheus 2" first before he shifts his focus to the new "Alien" movie.

Eventhough the delay is hardly a good thing, the additional time is believed to be beneficial to Blomkamp as he continues to work on the script for the movie.

With production possibly delayed, "Alien 5" may be released in 2018 as opposed to the original plan of 2017.
