Since 20th Century Fox confirmed that director Neill Blomkamp's proposed "Alien 5" film is moving forward into production, speculations began flooding the blogosphere. One thing is now for certain: the plot had to be slightly altered to fit into what Ridley Scott, the director of the first "Alien" film, is doing with "Alien" spin-off "Prometheus 2."

According to Empire, Blomkamp had to make one change to "Alien 5" so that it wouldn't contradict the events in Scott's "Prometheus" films.

Blomkamp explains, "I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit. One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."

There was also a bit of back and forth regarding the title of the new "Alien" film. Blomkamp states that he sent the title proposal to Scott and is still waiting if it will be approved for final use. Blomkamp explained that the title cannot be revealed yet because it does give away a good hint at the film's plot.

What he has confirmed is that his film will ignore the events of "Alien 3" and "Alien Ressurection." The events of the two films might have still occurred but "Alien 5" may work around them, ignore them, and plant a new seed that keeps Ripley, Hicks, and Newt alive.

Other than the confirmation of the project moving forward with Blomkamp set to direct, nothing else has been confirmed.

When the director initially posted a concept art for his supposed film in his social media accounts, he wanted Siguorney Weaver to come back and play Ellen Ripley. There has been no confirmation yet if she is still attached to the project, although there were reports that she's interested in reprising her iconic role.

"Alien 5" is also supposed to bring back Newt and Hicks but no casting news has been released and Michael Biehn has not yet given any confirmation or denial of returning to the franchise.
