The next Xenomorph-infested film, "Alien: Covenant," has found its lead in actress Katherine Waterston. The upcoming film will serve as a sequel to Ridley Scott's "Prometheus."

20th Century Fox told The Wrap that Waterston, who also landed a role in the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," will be starring next to Michael Fassbender once again, after the two worked together in "Steve Jobs."

Noomi Rapace will also be returning to play Elizabeth Shaw, archaeologist and member of the Prometheus expedition.

The story of "Alien: Covenant" follows a colony ship, Covenant, and its crew that is bound for a remote planet in the far side of the colony. According to IMDB, the planet is described as an uninhabited paradise that turns out to be a dangerous world.

Fassbender plays the sole inhabitant of the strange world, David, who is a synthetic human and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

"Alien: Covenant" is said to be a continuation to the storyline of "Prometheus," which was released in 2012. According to Box Office Mojo, "Prometheus" made a worldwide gross of $403 million and $126 million domestically. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a score of 73 percent.

The film will also serve as a link between "Prometheus" and Scott's original "Alien" movie. Director Scott is joined by writers Michael Green, John Logan and Jack Paglen.

Scott had postponed the "Prometheus" sequel to give way to finishing "The Martian" along with Matt Damon in time for the awards season.

Waterston found her first break in "Inherent Vice" where she played the lead role of Shasta Fay Hepworth. She also starred in 2013's "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby" and in four episodes of "Boardwalk Empire." Her latest deal to star in J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sets her with as role as Porpentina "Tina" Goldstein.

"Alien: Covenant" is set to start taping in early 2016, and will come out some time in Oct. 2017.
