The overall production and details of the upcoming new science fiction horror film prequel, "Alien: Covenant," has mostly been shrouded in mystery. The producers of the new film have mostly been keeping details about the movie under wraps, but it looks like things may have been completed ahead of schedule as a newly released poster for the film has now revealed a release date that is three months earlier than previously announced.

According to the movie's first promotional poster, the second installment in the "Alien" prequel series and sixth installment in the "Alien" franchise will apparently be showing in theaters on May 19, 2017. This will be the third time that the release date for the movie has been changed. The movie was originally announced for an October 2017 release date which was then moved to August 2017. There wasn't really any announcement that explained the shifts in the film's release date, but it can be assumed that filming and editing of the movie might have gone smoother than expected.

According to the latest reports regarding the movie, several characters from the previous film, "Prometheus," will reportedly be reprising their roles. The original film's stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, and Guy Pearce will be returning to reprise their roles as the android David, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, and Peter Wayland, respectively. New characters will also be introduced, which will be played by newcomers Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, and Billy Crudup.

Fassbender himself also revealed in a recent interview that he will actually be playing two roles in the upcoming film, namely his original robotic character David and a new version of the android named Walter. Aside from the characters he will be playing, Fassbender also shared that the upcoming movie will essentially go back to the original DNA of "Alien," more specifically its horror elements.
