In just a few years, Xiaomi has become a valuable player in the tech field, catapulting itself to the third spot among the top performing tech firms with quite a number of gadgets under its belt, such as smart TVs, power banks and, of course, smartphones. Indeed, it would not be called "Apple of China" for nothing.

Just recently, there were rumors that the manufacturer is developing a smartwatch, possibly to compete with the iPhone maker who is releasing the Apple Watch next month. This time, another leak has emerged suggesting what might be a new handset from Xiaomi.

An executive from China Mobile has shared via Chinese publication Weibo an image of the said smartphone, which bears resemblance to the Redmi 2. The snap showed the device face down and its backside dipped in orange to coincide with its background of the same color.

The high-profile leakster also claimed that the device, the name of which is still unknown, will come with a 4.7-inch display generating a decent resolution of 720 x 1280. An 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera is said to take care of the imaging department.

Under its hood will reside not a Snapdragon 410 processor like the Redmi 2 but a quad-core Lead Core LCI LC1860C CPU, which is said to be five times as fast. That will then be paired with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB inbuilt storage, which is expandable with a micro SD card.  Xiaomi will reportedly slot in Android 4.4.4 KitKat for the software portion.

There is no word about the pricing but it is guaranteed that it won't be lower than $65. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has recently declared that the Chinese tech firm will be releasing phones priced no less than the said value. But since the said handset almost mirrors the Redmi 2, it looks like the mystery device will not cost more than $110.
