ALOVE will host a special music gig at this year’s Salvation Army Congress at the Wembley Conference Centre on 19 to 20 November.

The special live and ‘unplugged’ gig under the title ‘Longer, Later, Louder’ is open to all ages and will feature performances by two Christian artists, Brett Riches and Emma Pears.

Riches, of ‘Hope For New Day Coming’ notoriety, was short-listed from university students across the UK for the MBF awards for song creation.

Pears, a professional singer-songwriter who has written numerous pieces for the church and also wider music industry, leads together with her husband, ‘The Rattling’, a team that works for spiritual renewal. The husband-wife team are also worship leaders for Design For Life, run by the Candidates Unit.

Other musicians gathering over the weekend for The Salvation Army Congress include Festival Brass and Alive in Him Youth Chorus, as well as the International Staff Band and Salvacosta.

The Congress will also see more than 20 exhibitors gather to showcase their work in the Reliance Bank Exhibition Arena, as well as run a series of free seminars on topics such as the media, the web, event management and pastoral care.

Three special lecture will be led by The Salvation Army Chief Secretary, Lieut-Colonel Vic Poke, Majors Anne and John Read, and Major Mel Jones, on The Relevance of The Salvation Army today, in community and leadership.
