Amazon 'Top Gear' release date news: Richard Hammond teases completely new show -'Nothing is the same'

Amazon's very own version of "Top Gear," to be hosted by the original motoring show trio—Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond—will be very different from how it used to be on BBC.

Although it is expected to premiere this fall, details about the highly anticipated comeback of the three are hard to come by. Thankfully, despite the drought of info, Hammond filled fans in on what to expect on the motoring show.

While he did so, the car journalist threw shade at "Top Gear" reboot presenter Chris Evans for picking big names as co-hosts instead of young motoring journalists.

"Our show is all new. Nothing is the same but the same sort of idea," Hammond told IOL, comparing it to the "Top Gear" reboot. "We won't be doing any of the travel features and we have not had any celebrity guests yet," he added.

As for the title of the Amazon "Top Gear" show he will be leading, Hammond admitted that it is extremely tough picking a title as everything they came up with is already taken.

Hammond recognizes that pressure is mounting, especially because the name of the show, which media outlets call Amazon "Top Gear" for now, will somehow determine the show's fate.

It looks like looking for the perfect name is still a problem of theirs. "We have to have a name registered and owned in eight days," Hammond said.

The car enthusiast also did not hold back in attacking the celebrity-heavy "Top Gear" reboot, which also features "Friends" alum Matt Leblanc, Formula One commentator Eddie Jordan and German racer Sabine Schmitz.

"What's very entertaining is that Chris Evans is having a very hard time at the moment as he attempts to put 'Top Gear' back together again," he said.

Hammond, Clarkson and May are signed up for three seasons of the Amazon "Top Gear" show, composed of a dozen episodes each with a 60 minutes of runtime.

The episodes will not be dropped in one fell swoop and will instead be aired every week. Amazon Prime subscribers should be able to tune in when it broadcasts.
