For anything that we buy particularly in the world of tech, specs will play a vital role towards swaying anyone's eventual purchase. Mobile phones, tablets and computers are among those in the niche.

The advanced people in the PC niche can always upgrade to the better spec peripherals. Among them include the graphics card which as everyone knows now has become a critical part of computers especially when you talk about HD gaming or high resolution media.

While there are a lot of graphic cards and peripherals out there, let us take into perspective two for the sake of comparison - the Nvidia GTX 980 Ti and the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X.

The newest and seemingly powerful of the two is the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X. A detailed summary of their specs can be found here.

At first glance, a normal buyer would surely go for it if he finds himself looking for something better than the NVIDIA GTX 9800 Ti. But for the ones who place premium in display to get their money's worth, tests show that the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X doesn't necessarily deliver the expected display output and smoothness that one would expect when he starts gaming or watching those high resolution movies.

Despite the specs, it seems that the framerate game has not improved that much. In fact as far as average framerates (according to tests made) are to be used, it shows the Radeon R9 Fury X coming up short of the 980 Ti.

The R9 Fury X does make use of a new technology in place of the GDDR5 but the HGM 1.0 technology used in the cards comes as a limitation for it with just 4GB of memory. Compared to the higher VRAM used by the Nvidia 980 Ti, such could be pointless at this point at 1080p. But what happens when 1440p displays come around?

For now and for folks who want to be sure, it may be best to delay upgrading to a new card unless it is absolutely necessary. The specs may be great but performance is definitely more important.

Unless there are tweaks to be needed, don't let specs sway your buying decisions and stick to the proven display cards until further proof affirms the benefits advanced specs and new technology has to offer.
