AMD recently unveiled its latest high-end gaming video card, the Radeon Pro Duo. The new GPU can offer up to 16 teraflops performance that can also be used for great VR experience. AMD is confident that it can be used for VR content creation as well with its supplementary LiquidVR SDK platform.

The AMD Radeon Pro Duo is technically two GPUs in a single unit. It combines two Fiji GPU processors that provide all the power that a gamer may need. VR aficionados will also greatly benefit because of its high bandwidth memory (HBM) technology as it produces more results with a lesser amount of time. The company said that graphic-intensive programs such as Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Studio and Blackmagic Fusion Studio work smoothly with their new GPU.

AMD has not released any technical specs yet but according to Ars technica, the newest member of the Radeon family is smaller than the R9 295X2, which is 307mm in length. It also seems shorter than the 10.5-inch NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti, but it seems taller than most video cards in the market, thus, it may require a specific size of computer case.

It offers 4096 stream processors, 256 texture units and 256 ROPs. With the assistance coming from its 8GB memory, it can breeze through any DirectX 12 and Vulkan requirements. It is set to provide display at 4K quality.

The industry follower also stated that the new Radeon Pro Duo requires three 8-pin PCIe power connectors but does not know yet how much power it would consume. The Fury X typically needs 220W to 450W of power, depending on the load.

The new GPU is being cooled by a closed loop liquid cooling system paired with a 120mm radiator complete with a fan. It has an LED lit logo, nickel-plated aluminum chassis and a matte black finish for the PCB.

AMD said via a press release that the AMD Radeon Pro Duo can be expected by early part of the second quarter of this year and will have a suggested price of US$1,499.
