Reba McEntire breaks new ground in being named the very first Nash Icon awardee in the inaugural American Country Countdown Awards to take place in two weeks. As Taste of Country reported, the title is presented to artists who gave a major contribution to the field of country music, and the site remarked that McEntire, being the foremost and the sole artist to ever carry the Nash Icon Music record label, is worthy of the noble recognition. The site adds that McEntire affiliated herself with the label, which is a joint-venture between Cumulus Media and the Big Machine Label Group, just last month. 

As a mark of respect for the legendary performer, her stepdaughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson, along with Miranda Lambert, will sing McEntire's much-loved hits. Shortly after, her good friend Kix Brooks will present the award. 

"Besides being one of the classiest people to ever grace Nashville, Reba has not just done it her way, but she's gotten all of her recognition the old fashioned way. She's earned it," Brooks said via Rolling Stone. "I've been blessed with the opportunity to tour with her, dragging 21 trucks and 19 buses around, and to hear her sing by the campfire. Besides being a talented actor and host, she is seriously one of the best singers I've ever heard. Reba sings with her head, her heart and that amazing voice. She's a treasure Nashville should forever be grateful for." 

Luke Bryan is also a big name in the upcoming award ceremony with his seven nominations. It is also reported that Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Eric Church and Brett Eldredge also prepared huge performances for the said event.

The American Countdown Country Awards will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. It will be hosted by Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard from Florida Georgia Line with the live telecast to be aired at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 15.
