The wait for the new season of "American Horror Story" will soon be over as FX's popular horror anthology series is set to return on Oct. 7 with the premiere of "AHS: Hotel."

"It's going to be really insane," actor Finn Wittrock told PEOPLE during the recently concluded 67th Emmy Award Performers Nominee Reception in Los Angeles. "In some ways, it's returning to the classic horror genre like the first season. 'Freak Show' was more outside and sprawling, this is more tight and scary. The sex and the blood are really amped up too and outdoing themselves."

"American Horror Story: Hotel" will feature the return of several "American Horror Story" alums in new roles: Wittrock as male model Tristan; Kathy Bates as hotel manager Iris; Denis O'Hare as Liz Taylor; Evan Peters as Mr. March; and Sarah Paulson as the drug junkie Sally.

The new "AHS" season will also feature pop superstar Lady Gaga as a TV actress. She will portray the role of The Countess who owns the infamous Hotel Cortez.

Before the season premiere, FX released a new teaser titled "Dropped Call," which shows a hotel maid picking up a blood-stained sheet from the floor. Then a phone falls, showing a disconnected call to 911.

O'Hare, who will portray a cross-dressing bar employee at the Hotel Cortez, told TV Line that the upcoming season will be as twisted as the anthology's first season.

"The theme is different, but also the feeling on the set is different," O'Hare shared. "But I think it's going to be really scary. It feels like season 1 in many ways ... and I think it's because we're back in LA. You can't help it!"

This will be the first season that "AHS" veteran star Jessica Lange will not be part of the show. Lange's last, stellar performance in the FX horror anthology was in season 4 called "Freak Show" where she appeared as the circus owner named Elsa Mars.

FX's "American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m.
