"American Horror Story: Freak Show" has already begun, and it's starting to spread some evil and terrifying horror on Wednesday nights. "Freak Show" is definitely one freaky season with all the creepy circus characters that can really make viewers have nightmares. But what can fans say, it's the best reason why most everyone loves "American Horror Story."

Season 4 episode 2, entitled "Massacres and Matinees," involves Ethel's past as well as someone who'd replace Elsa. The official synopsis  for the episode looks quite intense. It reads: 

"A citywide curfew is going to threaten to shut down the Freak Show. A strongman from Ethel's troubled past will arrive at camp. Gloria is going to arrange a terrifying play date for Dandy. The Tattler Twins will reveal a talent that could knock Elsa from the spotlight."

"Massacres and Matinees" was directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Tim Minear. It will air on Oct. 15 on FX.

Meanwhile, there is certainly a lot of other things to look forward to in Season 4. For one, Neil Patrick Harris of "How I Met Your Mother" might be part of "Freak Show." Back in July, Harris showed interest in being part of the new season, and show creator Ryan Murphy was quick to talk to him about it.

"We're inching forward. Because of his schedule, we'd do it later in the run, maybe one episode, maybe two," said Murphy about Harris' appearance to TV Line.

In addition, there's Jessica Lange's character Elsa Mars, who might be toppled off as the villain for the new season. While Elsa will still be manipulative, she won't be the same usual villain as in the past seasons.

"The thing I want to be very clear in this is that my character Elsa really loves these people," said Lange to Entertainment Weekly.  "She truly cares for them, in her own selfish, narcissistic way. But they mean a great deal to her. It's not just exploitative. She's tough, and she's mean sometimes, and all of that, but she really does love them."
