'American Horror Story' season 4: Twisty the Clown scares a third of the crew during filming
Showrunner Ryan Murphy spilled some juicy details about the upcoming fourth season of "American Horror Story".
The new season of the hit horror TV show could be very sinister and will make the hair on the back of viewers' necks stand. Murphy said that the evil clown, played by John Carroll Lynch, chases away a third of the crew every filming of his scenes.
"Yes he (Lynch) plays Twisty the clown," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "Twisty the clown is a murderous clown and he's furious that the freaks have shown up in a town where he the most evil clown of all time has retired and he's out to make their lives a living hell."
"I'm fascinated by the whole clown phobia thing because I personally don't have it," the director added. "But whenever we shoot those scenes half the time a third of the crew has to leave because they're so afraid of him."
It seems that there are Coulrophobics, or those with a fear of clowns, in the staff of "American Horror Story". People with such phobia should refrain from watching the upcoming fourth season of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" as the TV series will feature "the most terrifying" twisted clown
"There's a real interesting thing that people have with being terrified of clowns," Murphy said, "So we decided to go head on at it and we tried to make him the most terrifying clown of all time.".
This is fueled by Kathy Bates earlier statement saying that she could not sleep after filming her first scene. That was not a good sign. She added that she was awake the whole night and was able to sleep at 6 a.m.
The fourth season of "American Horror Story" will also star Kathy Bates as Effil Darling; Evan Peters as Jimmy Darling; Emma Roberts as Maggie; Angela Bassett as Desiree Dupree; Michael Chiklis as Wendell Del Toledo; and Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars, as the ringmaster of the freak show. Moreover, reports claim that Lea Michele could be one of the regular cast members of the upcoming season of the series. The details of her character are still under wraps, however.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" will go on air on Oct. 8 on FX.
