'American Horror Story' season 5 update: Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange want to return

'American Horror Story' Season 4 to premiere on October 8.

The current season of FX's hit horror thriller is getting crazier by the minute, but things are not slowing down for the future of "American Horror Story."

On Wednesday, fans of the hit series were given one of the most heartbreaking episodes of the season, wherein two different kinds of mothers in the show had to die in the hands of their loved ones.

First, Kathy Bates' character Ethel Darling was killed by her long-time friend and employer, Elsa Mars, played by Jessica Lange. Ethel became suspicious of Elsa's moves when the Tattler twins Bette and Dot, played by Sarah Paulson, and Jyoti Amge's Ma Petite, went missing. This is the reason why she confronted Elsa and confessed that she thinks that the freak show manager had something to do with it. Elsa got angry and threw a knife straight into Ethel's eye. The poor woman died, leaving her son Jimmy (Evan Peters) motherless.

Elsewhere, Gloria (Frances Conroy), the ever-doting mother of Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock), also faced an untimely and unexpected death during this episode. Gloria did nothing but take care of her disturbed son, but he eventually took her life by shooting her in the head.

Fans were left broken-hearted after the episode, especially since Bate's Ethel is one of the well-loved characters in "American Horror Story: Freak Show." But they do not have to worry, since the Oscar-winning actress said that she is willing to return for "American Horror Story" season 5, especially since she enjoys working with the show's co-creator Ryan Murphy.

"... I love Ryan. I love working with him and for him," Bates said.

The actress also mentioned that Murphy is an important part of her life.  She narrated:

"One thing I didn't get a chance to say in my Emmy speech is that after Harry's Law and then I had gotten sick with breast cancer, I was really in the dumps. I was really like, 'I'll never work again. I'm too old. Blah blah blah.' Lo and behold, I get this amazing call from Ryan to come in and meet with him. He created these wonderful parts for me to play and I'll be forever in his debt for that. He's rejuvenated my career in a way that I have a young audience now and that's fabulous! So why wouldn't I want to come back for more of that?"

Bates is not the only "AHS" star who wants to return for the next installment of the series. Earlier, Lange also expressed her interest in returning to the show after portraying the role of Elsa this season.

"I don't want to say anything definitive. [Co-creator] Ryan [Murphy] and I have to have time to sit down and really talk. Because I love him dearly, and I know he wants me to continue," Lange admitted.

FX announced that "American Horror Story" has been renewed for a 13-episode season 5, which could air sometime in October 2015.
