"American Horror Story: Roanoke" has been a very different kind of season in the series, and now, the upcoming season finale is going to turn things around one last time as actress Sarah Paulson returns to play her third character in the season. This time it will be a character that fans of the franchise are familiar with: Lana Winters.

Winters was the main character in the show's second season, "Asylum," which was set primarily in the 1960s. In the series' chronology, she appeared again in 2013 to give a full expose about the Briarcliff incidents and made her switch from paper media to television.

The official preview trailer for the season 6 finale showcases Winters heading her own special show, and this time, she will be interviewing the sole survivor from the penultimate episode, Lee Harris (Adina Porter). The preview also showcases that Winters is not exactly happy with Lee surviving the "Return to Roanoke" show.

According to MTV, Winters is not just going to interview Lee but will also be involved with the live broadcast of Lee's trial. Fans will recall that Lee may be a survivor, but she is also being accused of murdering Mason (Charles Malik Whitfield) and Monet (Angela Bassett).

The season has taken an in-depth look at how reality TV can take a wrong turn, and the season finale is going to take this concept over the edge with the way Winters will deal with the sole survivor.

Series creator Ryan Murphy explained before that the series was basically split into three. Episodes 1 to 5 were labeled as the "My Roanoke Nightmare" arc, and episodes 6 to 9 were the "Return to Roanoke" arc. Episode 10 is going to be its own stand alone that ties everything together, which is why it focuses on Lee's trial and interview.

Lana Winters' return further cemented that the season is tied directly to past seasons such as "Asylum," "Coven," and "Hotel."

The season finale of "American Horror Story: Roanoke" will air on Nov. 16.
