"American Idol" previously aired on FOX, so it comes as a surprise that the singing competition series will be making its comeback on ABC. FremantleMedia, the producer of the hit show, came to an agreement with ABC to bring "American Idol" back on the television screen.

After 15 seasons, "American Idol" was halted, only to make a comeback for the 2017–2018 television season and with a different network, ABC. The show will premiere before the end of this year and will have 40 hours' worth of show time.

President of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, said, "ABC is the right home to reignite the fan base. We are thrilled viewers will once again share in these inspiring stories of people realizing their dreams."

Having the show on ABC will give the television channel more entertainment for its viewers. Other hit reality TV shows found on the channel are "The Bachelor" and "Dancing with the Stars."

Bringing "American Idol" back will also put a lot of pressure on ABC to make the show worth watching, since FOX had a hard time competing with NBC's hit singing competition show, "The Voice," during the last seasons of the show.

No announcement has been made on who will take on the roles of judges, but rumors have been circulating that one of them may be Kelly Clarkson, season 1 winner of "American Idol." It also has not been announced whether Ryan Seacrest will return as the host of the show, since he's now a co-host on "Live with Kelly & Ryan," which is produced and distributed by ABC. Final confirmations of the host and judges will come later this year.

Aspiring singers can now look forward to making their dreams a reality by joining another season of "American Idol." TMZ has announced that ABC will be holding auditions in Disney World, but no news yet on when auditions will take place.
