Amir Khan next fight news: Kell Brook is plan B

Even though nothing has allegedly been made official, Amir Khan believes that he has lost his chance to possibly face former sparring partner Manny Pacquiao.

Khan is someone that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is not to sold on having as Pacquiao's final opponent and with a curious report from the Mirror that Timothy Bradley Jr. has gotten the nod, the Briton has now turned his attention to someone who has been longing to get a fight with him — Kell Brook.

This could be a great showdown, something that could be a mega bout as well. Adding more headway is the fact that Brook's promoter has reportedly booked the Wembley Stadium on June 4.

"We're pushing forward for the Amir Khan fight and we expect it to happen at the end of May or early June," says Hearn via Sky Sports.

There is nothing definite yet since negotiations still have to progress. But just in case, the fight could come close to the one that saw Carl Froch and George Groves back in 2014.

But before planning ahead, there are some things that could hinder it from happening.

On the part of Brook, there was the botched fight against Diego Chaves and the fact that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has a mandatory fight involving Kevin Bizier. To make a fight with Khan happen, Hearn may have to buckle down to work and try to tweak some things to make a Khan vs. Brook materialize.

As far as Khan is concerned, timing is essential. Khan usually fights in May before Ramadan so one has to wonder if that Jun. 4 date could become a problem.

Of course, these concerns will only have bearing should negotiations between the two camps gain any headway. With the setting currently different from that in the past months, Khan could be a bit desperate since he hardly has anyone else credible to face.
