Amir Khan next fight rumors: Briton wasted his time chasing Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao

As far as Eddie Hearn is concerned, Amir Khan wasted time and perhaps money waiting for a possible fight with either Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Manny Pacquiao.

While his name was in the list of potential opponents, Hearn believes that such was the reason why he avoided his boy, Kell Brook. And in the process, Khan wasted his time on unrealistic fights, as termed by Khan's handler via Sky Sports.

Khan was the top name as Mayweather's possible opponent but as everyone knows now, he was shunned in favor of Andre Berto. In that scenario, Khan was made out as the reason why the fight never materialized, pointing out his continuous vocal tirade against the undefeated boxer despite being told to keep quiet.

Against Pacquiao, his power to stay afoot with the Filipino fighter was the one in question. Being a former sparring partner, the people behind Pacquiao felt that Khan didn't carry the punch to make a potential Khan vs. Pacquiao tiff a good pay-per-view (PPV) sell.

So after being shunned twice, Khan finally realized his pursuit was all for naught. Even before Pacquiao announced he was fighting Timothy Bradley Jr. for a third time, word about Khan going in a different direction already came out.

As far as Hearn is concerned, Khan could have saved himself the trouble by realizing that sooner. Brook may not be a big name compared to Mayweather or Pacquiao but he can rack in revenue. Was Khan greedy in wanting more?

Obviously landing a fight with either Mayweather or Pacquiao would have been more lucrative on his end. But at the end of the day, the southpaw just has to be realistic with his goals. A Khan vs. Brook fight can be a good payday as well and such is better than waiting in the wings doing and earning nothing.

As it stands, that battle is close to happening. Hopefully, Khan doesn't make any outrageous demands since he would end up wasting more time in the process.
