Amir Khan next fight news: Bout against Kell Brook in 2016?

And now the tables have been turned on Kell Brook.

The unbeaten International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion has been conspicuously absent after initially goading Khan to fight him. And with Amir Khan obviously free now, it seems that the British southpaw is mapping out his plans for 2016.

While it is a given that Khan and his camp have plans of facing Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, it seems like they are looking beyond that. And surprising, Brook is included in the list.

The rant comes a bit of a surprise considering Khan had earlier said that he believed that Brook needed to rack up more fights with big name fighters before Khan would even consider him. And if he is serious about lining up Brook as one of his next opponents, that will happen in 2016 and not in the coming fall.

Khan is planning to fight in the fall, although it remains to be seen who his opponent will be. The names of Danny Garcia, Lamont Petersen, and even Keith Thurman have been mentioned thru boxingscene.com, but it looks like most of that remains on the table.

Khan has been idle since May. His last fight was against Chris Algieri which he won via unanimous decision.

As for Brook, it seems that the British boxer could be fighting this fall. He may return to the ring in October 24 and his opponent may possibly be Diego Chaves, a former World Boxing Association (WBA) interim champion.

Brook has already fought twice this 2015, against Jo Jo Dan and Frankie Gavin.

So with both Khan and Brook likely to fight one more time before the year ends, the two could end up fighting each other in 2016 and it may be held at the Wembley Stadium.

With that said, one has to wonder what Khan will prioritize. Will it be a fight against his former sparring partner Manny Pacquiao or against fellow Briton Kell Brook?
