Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia fight news 2016: Rematch shaping up if American boxer wins

Amir Khan could get a chance to avenge a loss against Danny Garcia which happened back in 2012, although such can only take place if the American boxer defeats Roberto Guerrero on Jan. 23.

Khan hasn't fought since May last year and was shunned twice by two big name boxers — Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. He last fought Chris Algieri in a fight that many felt was not that impressive.

Just the same, Khan and company have moved on and the last fans heard that he was trying to hook up a possible fight with Kell Brook.

That may have to wait, though, since Brook is set to defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) title against mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier in Sheffield on March 26, as reported by BoxingScene.com.

As for Khan, he too has been named as mandatory challenger to the eventual winner of the Garcia vs. Guerrero fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) world welterweight title which was formally held by Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But more than the chance to snag the title, Khan could be looking for payback against Garcia.

Garcia dealt Khan a stunning fourth-round knockout in Las Vegas back in 2012 which resulted in Khan replacing his trainer.

The British southpaw has won five straight fights under the mentorship of Hunter but the ultimate test could possibly happen if a Khan vs. Garcia showdown is made official.

Hopefully, Khan can get back into the ring and into the groove of things. Khan has been kept out of the scene for chasing Mayweather and Pacquiao for most of 2015. The efforts all went for naught.

A rematch with Garcia seems daunting, though. The American boxer has yet to taste defeat (31–0), although he faces a formidable opponent in Guerrero.

Whatever happens, Khan is expected to be among the curious spectators for that match when it takes place next week in Los Angeles, California.
