Amir Khan is getting ready for his next fight, but it won't be with Manny Pacquiao, that's for sure. Top Rank's Bob Arum cited that legal problems prohibit Khan and Pacquiao from fighting against each other. As a result, Khan is focusing on Devon Alexander for his next bout and Floyd Mayweather Jr. for later.

In a talk with Telegraph Sports, Arum said, "After Pacquiao's second fight with Timothy Bradley [in April], I tried to see if Khan was interested in fighting Manny and if it was legally possible. The first guy I asked was Nick Khan, who is the agent of Freddie Roach and a friend of mine.

"He came back and said they (Khan's advisers) gave him the runaround. We were told: 'No way'. They have contractual commitments to others, which would prevent that fight from happening.' So I dropped it."

Khan is setting his eyes on big names this coming 2015. If he beats Alexander for the WBC Silver Welterweight Title, it may just mean getting a shot at Pretty Boy Floyd in the near future. More than this, the English boxer also believes that his fighting style is better suited for countering Mayweather's than Pacquiao's. He is no stranger to the Pacman's fighting style as they have had tons of sparring sessions together at the Wild Card Gym.

"My style probably suits more a Floyd Mayweather style because it will probably take me back to my amateur days. It would be more like a game of chess, you know, where you hit me and I don't get hit," Khan explained.

He added, "It would be about getting the angles right. When you know you're fighting someone like Floyd Mayweather you're going to be on the edge. I know he's going to be so sharp, knowing that you can't make any little mistake, because you make a small mistake against Floyd Mayweather, he'll capitalize on it. So, that only makes you a much better fighter and keeps you on your toes, really."

For him, his next fight will dictate the pace of his future career. Although he prefers a fight with Mayweather, he is not closing the doors on meeting Pacquaio on the boxing ring either.

Arum does add that if Pacquiao and Khan fight, it definitely won't happen in the United Kingdom due to the time difference. Although it is still possible for that fight to happen, Arum notes that Khan is under an advisor that just won't let it push through.
