A member of the Duggar family from the reality television series "Counting On" has expressed her desire to adopt 13 children from a California-based family, all of whom were tortured and held captive by their parents. Amy Duggar King posted on her social media page that she wants to give the children the parental love that they have been deprived of and make sure that they end up with a much more positive perspective on life. 

These children are of the Turpin couple who have been apprehended by authorities for severe child abuse. In a tweet posted last Monday, Jan. 29, she stated that she texted an associate of hers and inquired whether it is possible for her to adopt all of the 13 children of the Turpin family. She also expressed that she wants to provide them with a good shelter and food — both of which the Turpin parents did not duly provide for them. 

Furthermore, the reality TV star stated that "God can restore what the devil has stolen." In a separate tweet, the 31-year-old member of the Duggar clan also shared her distaste for cruelty toward animals, as well as children — suggesting that people who commit these vile acts should be "hung by their toenails." It is apparent that the news surrounding the Turpin family has deeply affected her. 

The Turpin children were found by the local authorities to be living in extremely poor conditions, not being allowed to bathe and properly evacuate their wastes for months at a time. On top of that, they were given limited amounts of food once a day per child. The age range of the 13 children were two years to 29.

The authorities were alerted by a 17-year-old child who escaped through one of the house windows and were immediately informed of what has been going on in the house, which is located somewhere in Perris, California.
