Android 4.4.2 KitKat update release date: Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 update finally rolls out

Verizon owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 can breathe a sigh of relief: the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is finally rolling out to their devices.

It's been a frustrating time for Verizon owners as the update was already rolled out to T-Mobile, Sprint and the AT&T models.

Software build I545VRUFNC5 changes a few bugs around the Knox app, as well as stability issues.  It also introduces a new keyboard, with updated Emoji icons, and comes pre-loaded with ISIS Wallet.

It also changes the status icons to white and will improve the battery life. 

Other changes include Google+Photos changing simply to Photos and Play Magazine will change to Play Newsstand.

Owners can see on their notification bar if they have new firmware files ready for installation or you can go to the Settings menu >> General >> About Phone >> Software Update >> Check for Updates. 

You should check your WiFi connection is stable before downloading and installing the update.  After downloading you can check it has been completed in the About Device section and double checking the firmware version matches I545VRUFNC5. 

It's been a good week for updates with Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 3, and the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 all getting the latest Android OS version.
