Android 4.4 KitKat update for LG G2 by end of December; Samsung Galaxy S4, S3 Note 2, 3 update schedule still a mystery

The Android 4.4.2 software update is expected to roll out to the LG G2 smartphone by the end of December.

LG released the news that the update will be available soon and the rollout will begin in Korea. The international roll out schedule for the LG G2 has not been released yet.

The latest Android update was also rolled out for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition and the HTC One Google Play Edition last week.

All Nexus devices, including the Nexus 4, 5, and 7 were the first to receive the Android updates, followed by non-Nexus Google Play Edition smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition is the only Samsung smartphone to have received the KitKat update and the Korean company has yet to release an update schedule for the popular Glaaxy S3, 4, and Note 2, 3 devices.

Meanwhile, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was only just completed among popular devices last month. The initial roll out for the S3 was buggy and prompted numerous customer complaints. The roll out was forced to be stalled before updates finally resumed in November.

HTC has announced that its HTC One flagship phone will begin to receive updates by the end of January next year.

The new features of Android 4.4 Kit Kat are as follows:

  • Expanded functionality for Notification listener services
