Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update is now rolling out to Nexus and Google Play Edition devices.

The third and final update of the Kitkat version of Android finally appeared after months of speculation. According to the factory images, a number of phones and tablets will receive the latest OS update, including the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (both WiFi and LTE), Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 10, Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus S. Moreover, the update is also available to Google Play Edition devices as well as to the devices of the formerly Google-owned Motorola.

Some of the features and fixes brought by the latest update is the facelift on the user interface of the Phone dialer app by adding a card-based view to the speed dial contacts. Other changes in the devices are resolving bugs pertaining to CPU usage as well as the bug on the Nexus 5 camera.

Unlike the previous rumors claim, the update did not bring all the different fixes and solutions to bugs and issues found on the 4.4.2 version of the Android Kitkat OS.

Unfortunately, the OS upgrade is not yet available through Over-The-Air update but will most likely be in a few days or weeks. Thus, users must manually update their devices with the new ROM. However, it will not be long enough before Google will roll out the OTA update.

The update will not be rolled out at once and users may receive the update in phases. Third party manufacturers using Android OS like Samsung, HTC and Sony should be working on the latest version of the update customized for their respective devices. Although Android 4.4.3 is a minor system update, its appearance just weeks ahead of Google's annual developer conference will mean that the 4.5 version of the Android OS will roll out later this month at the Google I/O Conference kicking off on June 25.
