Without too much fanfare — like what they did during the Android 5.0 Lollipop update exactly one month ago — Google quietly released the Lollipop 5.0.1 code to AOSPA update early today, signifying the upcoming rollout of the new operating system update in the coming days. 

The factory images that show the code for Android 5.0.1 for Nexus 9, Nexus 7 (2013 edition), and Nexus 10 in its factory images page have been updated, which means that the latest Android software can be updated from the designated website put up by Google. 

Other Google-owned smartphones like the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, as well as the 2012 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi and the new Nexus 6 devices will get the updates anytime soon. 

The Android maker did not provide an official list of changes that will be present in the new operating system update, but users are hoping that some of the most common problems in the devices would be addressed once they decide to download the update online. 

One of the reported improvements in the new operating system is a larger amount of allocated memory for Nexus 7's video playback. Earlier, Nexus 7 users complained that they experience errors while watching videos on YouTube, wherein the "There was a problem while playing the video. Touch to retry" error prompt appears once in a while. 

Also, the new update can also help avoid unwanted factory settings resetting the device which have been configured to reset themselves after several failed access attempts. The new Lollipop operating system will not count the security patterns or passwords that contain less than four characters that aim to unlock the device. 

The new Lollipop will also come with an improved Notifications Panel that launches the lock screen notifications wherein the user can determine which push notification apps will be added to the lock screen.
