Android 5.0 Lollipop issues and problems on LG G2 reported by users

Nothing beats the excitement of having an Android smartphone dressed up with the latest operating system, which promises better user experience, overall convenience, and more features. However, when LG G2 users from Verizon got Android 5.0 Lollipop, there were a number of issues that came about.

The biggest and most frequently reported issue is the rapid depletion of battery life. While not all users of the 2013 flagship experience this, a whole host of them are complaining about the shortened life span of the LG G2. One user says that after three and a half hours of usage, his LG G2 dies. There are also complaints of the handset's slow charging and overall sluggish performance. Ironically, Android 5.0 Lollipop was poised to improve this aspect. It is actually one of its general features always mentioned.

After leaving Android KitKat, some noticed problems on making and receiving calls as well as sending text messages and using mobile data. As for the former, users discovered that Google Now is the culprit and turning it off allows them to call and take calls again.

Others say that even though they installed Android 5.0 Lollipop, their LG G2 is stuck with Android KitKat. Many complain about glitches on the keyboard, lagging notification trays, and crashing apps that won't open until the device is rebooted.

There are also complaints saying that the update automatically installs even without the user allowing it. It may be Google's new thing so it is important to back up everything when users know that their devices are eligible for an Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

These issues may likely be eliminated with a newer Android Lollipop build although that remains to be seen. With the Android 5.0 Lollipop arriving just weeks ago, it is still unknown when the next update will pull in.

In the meantime, there are tips that wouldn't hurt to try. For those who have yet to update their LG G2 units, it is important to clear up the cache, which could be done by turning the phone off and back on while pressing the power and volume buttons down. Those who think it is too risky can download the Clean Master App and let it do the clean-up.

The most recommended step to take is performing a factory reset. But before pushing through with the process, users need to back up text messages, photos, and files. When that is all taken care of, they can go to settings and do a factory data reset. This allows users to start with a clean slate.
