Verizon is finally ready to gussy up its Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with Google's newest mobile operating system. The U.S. carrier that also goes by the name Big Red is bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to Samsung's phablet about six months after the software debuted.

Verizon will be rolling Android 5.0 Lollipop over the air, which means that the update with the build LRX22C.N910VVRU1BOAF won't be there in a single drop. Subscribers of the carrier will have to wait for a notification to pop up on their 5.7-inch handset.

Those who no longer desire to wait for that download prompt can manually check the systems updates of the phone under its settings to see if an installer for Android 5.0 Lollipop is ready for the taking (Settings -> About phone -> Software Update -> Check for updates).

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a wealth of features and changes. Apart from vibrant 3D animations courtesy of the new Material Design, users will also notice significant improvements on the phone's overall performance and battery life.

Lock screen notifications also look better with Android 5.0 Lollipop and users can swipe them up when they pop up to get them out of the screen. There is also an all-important enhancement on security as well as an improved ART runtime. For the complete list of changes, go here.

There are reports that owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 who live in India will be able to update to Android 5.0 Lollipop as well. The software will be a little over 1 GB while Verizon subscribers will have to free at least 1.7 GB of space for theirs.

As usual, users have to make sure that their Note 4 has at least 50 percent of battery life before pushing through with the Lollipop transition so as to make sure that the process will be successful.
