AT&T broadens its list of smartphones which can now upgrade to the latest Android OS after announcing the release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop for select devices.

Among the devices which can now get the Android 5.0 OS update include the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy Alpha and the LG G2. US subscribers can now check their phones through the settings and see if the Android update is already available for downloading.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Android OS update will come in the form of a 1.4GB file which brings the expected new Material Design UI, reportedly improved battery savings and a new smart lock feature among others.

Owners are advised to make sure they have a stable connection before proceeding. To check if the update is available, Galaxy S5 Active owners can go to the Settings->About Device and check if the Android 5.0 update is already available.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will have a smaller (1GB) file OTA update. To check if it is available, head on to your phone's Settings->More->About Device. See if the software version 5.0.2 is available and then proceed to download. Among the enhancements to expect include being able to set your phone for multiple users, screen pinning (of Apps), and enhanced notifications to name a few.

LG G2 users can expect the removal of the Browser Bar and Famigo as well as the AT&T Code Scanner and Beats Music. To check if the update is available, press the Menu key and go to All Settings. Find the General Tab and go to About phone. Tap on the Software information and check if Android version 5.0.2 is available.
