Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 series will be ready for a massive rollout by the end of July, Sony's Japanese subsidiary confirmed. This comes days after news surfaced that the update was getting certified and will be ready for release in the weeks to come. 

Not many devices don the latest build of Google's flagship operating system. Some haven't even made the jump to Android 5.0 Lollipop and are still stuck with KitKat. This makes it a huge deal for Sony to update its entire lineup of Z2 and Z3 devices with the newest software around. 

As Phone Reviews notes, users in Japan aren't always the first on the list when it comes to Lollipop releases. The site recognizes that this may finally be Sony's effort to let more Sony patrons enjoy the latest all at the same time.  

Most of the handsets in the series already have Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on board. Sony Japan posted a changelog that covers the modifications and tweaks from Android 4.4.2 KitKat to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which means that not all mentioned will appear for those who will update from a newer build. 

The most noticeable changes Xperia Z2 and Z3 users will get to enjoy, as the Japan-based tech giant listed, are brand new animations as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth shortcuts now under the notification tray. Users should see new icons in the Settings menu, too. 

The specific date for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop rollout to Xperia Z2 and Z3 devices wasn't announced but Sony assures users that before the month ends, the handsets in question will be enjoying these brand new tweaks and changes on their smartphone.

When it is ready, a notification pop-up should prompt users to download the update.
