Android 5.1 update for Huawei Ascend P7 now in testing stage

Huawei Ascend P7 is getting a Lollipop update soonHuawei

Those who have the formidable Huawei Ascend P7 as a trusty mobile companion will be able to update it to Android 5.1 Lollipop soon as the update is currently being prepared. Users in Italy and Spain are taking part in an open beta that the software is now undergoing.

Owners of the handset, which was released just a year ago, already know that the Huawei Ascend P7 will receive the coveted update. Huawei itself promised this but the tech firm did not reveal a particular date on when this would happen. But with beta testing in full swing, it won't be long before the handset becomes a part of the growing Android 5.1 Lollipop community.

The firmware will be juxtaposed on the 3.1 version of Emotion UI, which is the same thing seen on the Huawei Ascend P8. Although the P7 was pushed away from the spotlight by its successor, the device still doesn't fail to captivate many users with its wholesome package.

The Huawei Ascend P7 is an impressive bundle. It comes with a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display with 441 ppi pixel density. It is powered by a quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910T processo coupled with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage that's expandable up to 64 GB.

Photographers won't ask for more with its 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter, which can take high-definition videos, and users who like to take selfies will appeciate its 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The device, although only 6.5 mm thin, has a 2500 mAh battery to keep the good stuff going. The best part is that it only costs $300.

It won't be long before the Huawei Ascend P7 hops from Android KitKat 4.2 to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Ascend Mate 2, Ascend Mate7, and Ascend G7 are next in line.
