Motorola was one of the fast-moving tech firms to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to its handsets. Once again, the manufacturer proves its diligence in keeping its users up to speed by bringing the newest build of the software known as the Android 5.1 Lollipop to the Moto X 2nd generation. 

"We are excited to announce a new software update for XT1095 by Motorola. This update brings Android 5.1 Lollipop to your phone along with other improvements," Motorola wrote in a post on its customer support portal. 

Android 5.1 Lollipop offers a slew of performance enhancements and other important improvements on almost every application and feature on the device. The Moto X should be getting the new Device Protection soon. It is a feature that keeps the smartphone locked until the owner signs in to their Google account. 

There are also a bunch of new features to enjoy in the camera department. The software reduces noise on low-light shots as it increases the responsiveness of the viewfinder of the front-facing shooter. 

Users can also remove notifications from the screen by swiping it up, and quickly select different Wi-Fi access points or paired Bluetooth devices with a brand new pull-down menu. Apps will also load faster, thanks to the improvement Android Run Time got. 

Most importantly, users will no longer put up with bugs like Chrome launch crashes and being unable to delete messages from the SIM card, among others, as Android 5.1 Lollipop was made to eliminate all those. For the complete details about the changelog, go here. 

Motorola is currently soak testing Android 5.1 Lollipop. But when the assessment is complete, Tech Times says that the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition will receive it first before carrier versions get their Lollipop makeover. It also looks like the company will commence the seeding of the operating system in the weeks to come.
