HTC's Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi has announced that Verizon is now rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop for the HTC One M9. This comes after AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint customers with the handset as well as those in select regions received the software. 

Technically, HTC promised that the update would arrive weeks earlier than it actually has. While there is no explanation behind the postponement, media outlets assume that the unexpected rise of the nasty StageFright bug, which this update has finally eliminated, encumbered the release. 

Presumably to compensate for the delay, HTC packed additional goodies along with Android 5.1 Lollipop for One M9 users to enjoy. The update now has roaming support for LTE bands 3 and 7, which should allow users to connect to more high-speed networks overseas.

The software was also designed to put the device on top form with improved Android Runtime for little to no app lags or crash, as well as a battery saver mode to prolong the device's life. Smart Lock, search functionality within the Settings, as well as all-new notifications bars are all there as well.

Verizon is rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop in phases, which means that not all users will immediately see it pop up on their HTC One M9. Those who are still waiting for the notification can check the software's availability manually by going to Settings – About phone – Software updates – Check now. The update is 200 MB in size so it is recommended to download it through a Wi-Fi connection. 

The HTC One M9 came with Android 5.0 Lollipop, allowing owners of the flagship to get the best out of the new Material Design, as well as the new lock screen notification settings with app privacy and priority settings.
