At least three Android devices will be getting a dose of the Android L 5.1 flavor after custom firmwares have been made available.

Among the devices that can see what the Android L 5.1 has to offer include the Samsung Galaxy S4, Moto G and the HTC One.

Owners of the Galaxy S4 can check out what Android L 5.1 has to offer through the CM12.1 series custom ROM from CyanogenMod. The firmware will be based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) 5.1 Lollipop.

Among the things to expect from the Galaxy S4 include the Boxer email app which comes with multiple user support. Aside from that, Galaxy S4 users who are able to apply the firmware update can try to customize their sound notifications as well as the varying LED color schemes.

For Moto G user the CM12.1 series custom ROM is available. However, it should be noted that the build may only be installed on Moto G Peregrine 4G models (XT1039, XT1040 and XT1045). Hence, Moto G owners may want to check first before applying the firmware since this could result in problems such as phone bricking.

The HTC One M7 is another Android device which can be upgraded to Android L 5.1. There are two available ROMS to choose from.

One is the unofficial CM12.1 ROM which came out earlier this month. The ROM was made for the first generation HTC One M7. An alternative could be to get one from TeamUB ROM.

Among the updates the firmware brings include battery percentage in the status bar, a network traffic indicator, custom notification lights, recent panel settings, battery performance improvement and lock screen shortcuts.

Another device, the Nexus Player can also upgrade to the CM 12.1. The only device said to be capable of supporting Android TV, users are however warned that the build brings some teething problems.

Meanwhile, other devices said to be getting the Android 5.1.1 update soon include the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. No actual date of release was mentioned but it could be out in the coming weeks.
