Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact,Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 and Z2 Tablet

Sony reveals devices to be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.Official Sony Mobile Website

Not too long ago, Sony updated a flurry of its Xperia devices to Lollipop. Proving its desire to keep its devices (no matter the age) up to speed, the Japan-based company has announced the list of devices getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Notably, most of the devices have been bumped to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop while the rest of the handsets in the list haven't even tasted the sweetness of the latest Lollipop build yet. And as expected, a variety of the smartphones from the tech firm will make the big jump.

Some might not like how big the skip will be but Sony seems to be dogged at keeping its products up to date with Google's latest OS releases. The first wave of Android 6.0 Marshmallow will hit the new ones from the tech firm – the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium.

Two and three-year old products of the manufacturer will also be dressed in Marshmallow. These devices include the Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Sony is also updating Xperia C4, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia M5, Xperia Z3+, and Xperia Z4 Tablet, which all have Android 5.0 Lollipop on board. These devices will skip Android 5.1.1 Lollipop altogether straight to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Sony did not provide a specific timeframe or date as to when the rollout of the OS will take place. It did not hint on the rollout being region-specific too. The company simply posted a caveat that the process will be done in phases, which means that the update won't drop in one fell swoop.

As noted by Softpedia, the list, which was first posted on the official Sony Mobile support page, is still subject to change. This means that although a certain device was listed, the next day, it might not be there. It's best to be posted about Sony's progress on the matter.
