LG G3 to get Android 6.0 Android Marshmallow next month

The LG G4 already received its Android M update, and it is speculated that next in line for next month is the LG G3.LG Newsroom

More than a month after Google unveiled the official stock version of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM, tech manufacturers continue to be sluggish in adapting to the new Android platform. However, some tech names have already started the ball rolling, like South Korea-based LG Electronics.

Recently, LG started rolling out Android Marshmallow to its current premium flagship, the G4. Working from the top down, the next in line apparently is the G3. Supposedly, owners of the LG G3 will not have that long to wait, as the Android 6.0 update for their devices is scheduled to roll out next month.

According to Phone Arena, reports coming in from Poland state that the LG G3 will receive its Android 6.0 update by mid-December, specifically between Dec. 16 and Dec. 18.

It is unclear if the rumored rollout timeframe is only for Poland itself, or if there would be other locations to be included in the series of updates. Poland has been one of the first countries that LG decided to test the new Android updates in. Previously, the LG G4 received its first Marshmallow updates in Poland and LG's own backyard, South Korea.

Meanwhile, according to GSM Arena, the LG G3 rollout in Poland, much like the G4, is a test phase for LG. As with other early rollout for updates, the development team has been encountering problems and issues with the Android Marshmallow port. However, the website said that according to an LG executive, the testing phase is already in its finishing stages, and the rollout will most likely make it to the December timeframe. This means that the global update for the LG G3 may be released even before the year ends, or in the early weeks of January.
