It has been some time since Google released the official version of its new mobile OS version. Meanwhile, tech manufacturers and mobile carriers are already rolling out their own version of Android Marshmallow based on the official build. However, some Android-run device users are still waiting for their units to be updated to the new Android 6.0 platform.

Good news, though, for the owners of the newest flagship from Sony Mobile. If speculations prove accurate, they may have not that long to wait, as there are rumors floating online that the Xperia Z5 will get its Android Marshmallow update soon.

According to Phone Arena, the rumors started with a tech journalist apparently tweeting some fresh updates about the lineup. Reportedly, the Sony Xperia Z5 will get its Android M update next month. It was unclear, however, if the industry follower was only referring to the base model itself or the entire Xperia Z5 lineup.

There are three iterations in the newest Xperia flagship, namely the base model Xperia Z5, the smaller Z5 Compact, and the first smartphone to offer a 4K display, the larger Xperia Z5 Premium.

The report also mentioned that based on the rumors, Sony Mobile is thinking of rolling out the Android M update first to its new flagships like the Xperia lineup before releasing it to older models. Although it is only considered a rumor, this idea seems to corroborate recent reports on Android 6.0 update for Xperia devices. When Sony Mobile launched its Concept for Android program, it offered a glimpse of Android Marshmallow to older models first, like the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Company.

More recent is a report from Xperia Blog, detailing a new Marshmallow Concept firmware version for the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact testers. Fans expect that when the tests are done, the first to receive an official version of the new platform would be the tested devices, in this case the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact.
