Google launched the Android 8.0 Oreo update last year, but the latest Android operating system (OS) has yet to roll out in every device that supports this version. According to the latest reports, however, the Android update is expected to be available in Samsung's premium gadgets very soon, specifically the Galaxy Tab S3. This is due to the leaked Wi-Fi certification of the tablet running the Oreo OS.

It was tipped that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is the next device to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update this year. This is following the recent test certification given by the Wi-Fi Alliance on the said tablet, and it was indicated that the test was performed while the Galaxy Tab S3 was running the latest Android OS build. The Wi-Fi regulatory agency has specifically certified a Galaxy Tab S3 LTE variant with model number SM-T825C, which means that the device is located within China or Hong Kong. Still, this is a good sign that the Android 8.0 Oreo update will continue to roll out in all Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 variants, including the Wi-Fi only device with model number SM-T820.

Even before the Wi-Fi Alliance's certification, the Android 8.0 Oreo's release in Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 in the coming days or weeks is already anticipated as the OS update has already been dropped in Samsung's 2017 smartphone flagships, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. Earlier this week, the Android Oreo version is reportedly rolling in selected Samsung Galaxy Note 8 units in France. However, Samsung has yet to confirm an exact release date of Oreo's arrival in Galaxy Tab S3.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 was launched in February 2017 with the Android 7.0 Nougat version. The changes in performance and user interface after the Android Oreo update are still uncertain, although the users can expect improved multitasking features and stability. It is also worth noting that the Galaxy Tab S3 successor, the Tab S4, is expected to run the Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box upon its launch this year.
