Google just unveiled its new operating system – Android L.

The tech giant introduced the much awaited Android OS, minus the dessert name, at the ongoing Google's I/O Developers' Conference. Staying true to the rumors, the new mobile software had a facelift as it packed new design and features. The new operating system seemed like a desktop OS that delights many waiting fans. Below are the top five features of the new Android L that will make you want to update your Android device now.

Android L, or Android 5.0, is now available to download from June 26 for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 developers.

1. User Interface

One of the things that caught the attention of many when Google announced the new Android L is the software's user interface. Users must expect more animations and touch feedback when using the new OS. It seemed that the UI offers 3D experience.

2. Smarter Lockscreen

Gone are the days of serial PIN codes and patterns lock. Google boasts"personal unlocking," which knows if you're wearing an Android (Wear)-powered watch and keeps you're the device unlocked since it detects your presence.

3. Performance

The new Android L OS has a new runtimem called ART, which was written from the ground up to support ARM, x86, and MIPS, and gives twice the performance. Moreover, the operating system is compatible with 64-bit processors and is more efficient.

4. Graphics

The Android L allegedly packed a PC-level graphics performance in devices set to arrive this fall. Google is committed in catching up with Direct X 11, and is including Android expansion packs with things like shaders and tessilations.

5. Battery

Android L introduced the Project Volta, which is claimed to make the battery life of the device more efficient and to support the power hogging features of the Android-based gadgets. The new OS also packed a Battery Saver mode, which cuts off Wi-Fi and display power. According to Google, it will give users an extra 90 minutes of battery life.
