Two flagships are getting the Lollipop treatment. HTC EMEA Product and Service Director Graham Wheeler announced via Twitter that users with the HTC One M9 variant released for Europe, the Middle East and Africa can now bump up the phone to Android 5.1 Lollipop. 

The Developer Edition of the Taiwan-based tech firm's top-of-the-line smartphone has already been updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The firmware should give the EMEA variant the improvements on performance, battery life and overall stability its kin are already enjoying. 

U.S. carrier Sprint, on the other hand, also started rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The 615.69 MB update  promises to eliminate the Note 4-exclusive security issue dubbed as Stagefright and increase the device's performance. 

Another Samsung handset getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is the Galaxy E5. According to Sam Mobile, the 744 MB update is now being sent out in India and Russia. There's no word on its release in other regions. 

Installing the newest version of Google's operating system brings more color to the interface as well as tweaks on the lockscreen and heads-up notifications. On the more technical side, Samsung Galaxy E5 users should notice the mid-ranger performing better and lasting longer. 

Sam Mobile adds that the Galaxy E7 is expected to get the update as well, although the site says it's hard to tell how soon that will happen.  

With the continuous effort of carriers and tech firms to roll out Android Lollipop to as many devices as they can, GSM Arena says that 18.1 percent of Android devices worldwide now has the software running. Majority of Android-powered phones and tablets still don Lollipop's forerunner, Android KitKat.
