The next Android OS update is slated to be rolled out in March, according to a post made by an executive from HTC. 

On Twitter, a consumer asked Mo Versi, HTC' s vice president of product management, about the estimated date of release of the software update that will fix the issues on the button lights and caps of the M7 GPE. 

He replied, "It'll be tied to Google's next MR, which is in March. Thanks." 

The HTC executive did not mention any specific update version in his reply, but a lot of speculations are claiming that the upcoming maintenance release is the alleged Android 5.1 version, as several Android One devices to be launched in Indonesia and the Philippines were seen running the software this month. 

However, Google is still mum about the alleged release of the Android Lollipop update at the moment. 

If speculations about the release of Android 5.1 next month turns out to be accurate, the update is expected to address issues in the operating system, such as sudden app closures, as well as bring system stability improvements, better RAM and battery management, as well as improved wireless connections. It is also believed that the new Android update will provide improvements on several "Okay Google" functions and notifications as well as fixes in its sound problems. 

An article from Trusted Reviews noted that scheduling the release of Android 5.1 in March seems like a good idea, especially since a lot of new flagship phones are slated to be released around that time as well. 

Aside from the Android 5.1 update, HTC also teased in its official Twitter account that there is "something huge" that is coming from the Taiwan-based mobile manufacturing brand. According to rumors, the company might be revealing two new flagship devices during the 2015 MWC, including the HTC One M9 and the bigger HTC One M9 Plus. 

Consumers can expect to learn more about HTC's big reveal during the company's press event on March 1 in Barcelona.
