Google announced last May the release of a new version for Android, which will be called Android M; and instead of unleashing the update immediately, the company has decided to release developer previews.

The new platform needs more updates before all Android devices will carry Android M.

The first Developer Preview was made available a couple of months ago and showed only a few elements that should be expected out of Android M.

The Developer Preview 2 has also been released and packed on different features that make Android M a more stable operating system (OS).

However, people have yet to see Developer Preview 3 which, according to reports, has been delayed.

Developer Preview 3 was supposed to be released in the middle of July, but a report from Android Police stated that it will be pushed to a later, unspecified date.

The news outlet stated that Android will need more time to undergo some tweaks. Android developer Wojtek Kaliciński said in a post, "We want this to be a near final release to test your apps on but we need a little more time to get it out to you."

The availability of the Preview 3 will be announced on +Android Developers by the time it becomes ready, Kaliciński added.

With this announcement, Android fans are just so eager to wait for the final build of Android M.

It was also reported that the company had originally planned for Android M to be finished before September of this year and to release the final build in that month or October at the latest.

Reports also point to a new flagship phone from Google, which will reportedly be released at the same date of Android M's release to showcase exactly what the new platform will be about.

Yibada reported that it is highly possible that the new Android update will come with Nexus 2015 devices.

For now, Android supporters simply have to wait for the Preview 3 and, of course, the formal announcement on the release of Android M final build.
