The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update may have been released without too many people noticing it.

According to Tech Times, the latest update is now available in some Android One devices, with the Cherry Mobile G1, a smartphone found in the Philippines, the first to get the new system.

It also appears as though the 6.0.1 update has also made its way to other Android One units, with the General Mobile 4G also among them. 

As of now, it appears that the release of 6.0.1 update is not being made widespread, at least as of yet, as other Google smartphones are still running the 6.0 version of the Marshmallow operating system (OS).

For now, Google has remained largely silent with regard to their plans concerning the 6.0.1, and it's anyone's best guess when the new firmware might make its way to other devices.

Details regarding the 6.0.1 update have also been scarce, although one developer named "LlabTooFeR" has helped shed some light on what people might expect from the new firmware.

According to a screenshot posted by the developer, its Android security patch level is slated for Dec. 1. That particular date could be one to look out for, as that might be the day that Google finally releases the new update to more devices, according to NDTV.

The new update also appears to be on the smaller side, coming in at just 87.5 MB.

As of now, it's unknown just what changes, if any, the 6.0.1 update will be making, although going by its size, it's not likely to make too many tweaks.

The same developer who posted a screenshot of the 6.0.1 Marshmallow update also hinted that more changes to the OS could be on the way.

With the 6.0.1 update now being available in some smartphones and presumably on its way to more units, the focus will slowly shift to the 6.1 update, which is currently rumored for a 2016 launch.
